Where a ration card file comes from, how to check it before printing, and what a PVC print of it is.
Ration cards are issued by states
Ration cards are issued by each state or union territory’s food and civil supplies department, so formats, names and the way to get a digital copy differ from state to state. Many states provide an e-ration card as a downloadable PDF. West Bengal, for example, describes its e-Ration Card as a downloadable PDF. Use your own state’s official food department portal for the current process.
Check the file before you print
A ration card often lists several family members. Open the file and check that the head of family, the card number and the details you want to keep are clear at full size. We print what the file shows, so decide before ordering whether a single page or the whole document should be printed.
What a PVC print is and is not
A PVC print is a durable copy of your file. It is not issued by the food department and does not change your entitlement. Ration shops and offices decide what they accept, so keep your official document or its digital copy available too.
