What APAAR means

APAAR stands for Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry. It is a lifelong ID for a student, linked to the Academic Bank of Credits, which keeps a record of a student's credits. The ID stays the same as the student moves between schools and colleges. It is issued under the education ministry's One Nation One Student ID initiative.

Why print a student's APAAR ID

Children lose phones and papers. A PVC card in a school bag is a simple backup, and it is easy for a teacher to check. Parents often want a card for the school bag, or a copy for a child who has no phone. A PVC card is sturdy.

Check the file

Make sure the student's name, photo and APAAR number are sharp. If the school gave you the file, ask them for a clearer copy if it looks blurry.

A file for each child

For schools and classes

Schools sometimes print the APAAR IDs for a whole class. Use one file per student and number the files, for example "01 Aarav" and "02 Diya", so the cards match the register. Please get consent from parents first.
