Your options for a plastic Aadhaar

There are three ways to carry your Aadhaar in plastic, and the right one depends on what you need.

• Order the official card from UIDAI. Use the UIDAI website or the myAadhaar portal and pay the fee shown there. This is the card UIDAI issues.
• Visit a local print shop with your e-Aadhaar. You may get a copy quickly, but you have to find a shop and carry your file with you.
• Upload your file here. The card is made from the Aadhaar you already hold and is delivered to your door.

None of these replaces your Aadhaar. We are a private printing service, not UIDAI, and the card you receive is a printed copy of your own Aadhaar. Whichever route you choose, keep your e-Aadhaar PDF and the original letter safe.

Where to get your Aadhaar file

The best file is the e-Aadhaar PDF. Open the myAadhaar portal, choose Download Aadhaar, enter your Aadhaar number, your Virtual ID or your enrolment ID, and confirm with the OTP sent to your registered mobile number. At the same step you can choose a masked Aadhaar, which hides the first eight digits.

The PDF is protected with a password: the first four letters of your name in capitals, followed by your year of birth. You enter that password on this page after you upload. If you have no PDF, clear photos of the front and back of your Aadhaar letter or card also work, but a PDF prints sharper. What the printed card shows

Your Aadhaar carries your photo, your name, date of birth, gender, the 12-digit number and a QR code, with your address on the back. The card shows what your file shows, no more and no less. We do not change, correct or add any detail.

Four mistakes that spoil a print

• Using a screenshot of the PDF instead of the PDF itself.
• Sending a photo with a thumb over one corner.
• Uploading only the front when you want both sides.
• Forgetting the password for a locked PDF.

Zoom in on your name, date of birth and number before you upload. If you can read them clearly on your screen, they will be clear on the card.

How to order PVC Aadhaar card print online

• Choose how many cards you need, from 1 to 10.
• Upload your files. A single PDF works, or send the front and back as JPG or PNG images, up to 50 MB each.
• If your PDF is locked, enter its password once the file has uploaded.

Masked or full

A masked Aadhaar shows only the last four digits of your number. It is a good choice for a card you carry every day and show to hotels, shops or couriers. Use the full version only where a form or service asks for the full number. If you are not sure, you can print both and keep each for its own purpose. For the whole family

Add one file for each person and set the quantity to match. Keep each person's front and back together and name the files clearly, for example "Ravi front" and "Ravi back", so nothing gets swapped. Order for other people only with their permission.

Keep your Aadhaar safe

• Download your Aadhaar only from the official site, and check that the address ends in .gov.in.
• Never share an OTP with anyone who calls or messages you.
• Delete downloaded files from shared computers.
• Consider locking your biometrics on the myAadhaar portal when you are not using them.

Is this the official Aadhaar PVC card?

No. It is a private print made from the file you upload. The official card is issued by UIDAI and ordered on its website.

Can I upload a password-protected e-Aadhaar PDF?
