Masked Aadhaar PVC card print: show your Aadhaar without showing every digit

Why choose a masked copy

Full Aadhaar numbers are sensitive. A hotel desk, a courier, a gym or a shop often wants only to see who you are, and they do not need every digit. A masked card lets you show your photo and name without handing over the whole number. It also protects you a little if the card is ever lost.

Masked or full: which should you print

• Choose masked for a card you carry and show every day.
• Choose the full version if a form or service asks for the full number.

How to get the masked file

On the myAadhaar portal, choose Download Aadhaar. You will be asked whether you want a masked Aadhaar. If you say yes, the PDF hides the first eight digits and everything else stays the same. Save that PDF and upload it here. It is protected by the same kind of password as the full e-Aadhaar: the first four letters of your name in capitals and your year of birth.

Check the digits before you pay

Look at the number on your file. It should read as XXXX XXXX followed by four digits. If you can read all twelve digits, you have downloaded the full version, so download the masked one again before you order. We print what the file shows, so we cannot mask a number for you.

How to order

What happens after you order

After you pay, we check that the file opens and that nothing is cut off. Your card is printed the next day and packed flat, and it arrives about a week later. If the file shows all twelve digits when you meant to print the masked version, we may contact you before printing.

Keeping the number safe

A card that hides eight digits is the safer one to lose. If you ever lose an Aadhaar card, you can lock your biometrics and check where your Aadhaar has been used through the UIDAI portal. A Virtual ID is a separate 16-digit number you can generate on the portal to use in place of your Aadhaar number.

A private print, not an official card
