Understanding the vehicle classes

Your licence lists the vehicle classes you may drive. Common ones are LMV for a light motor vehicle such as a car, MCWG for a motorcycle with gear and MCWOG for a motorcycle without gear. Other classes cover transport and heavy vehicles. The card prints the classes your file shows. We cannot add or remove one. If you have passed a test for a new class, the transport office updates your licence, and then you can download the new file and print it.

An Indian driving licence number usually begins with a two-letter state code, followed by the RTO code, the year and a serial number. Check that the whole number is clear in your file.
