e-EPIC Voter ID and PVC Print Guide

How a voter ID file becomes a PVC print, how it differs from the e-EPIC, and what the print is and is not.

How a voter ID file becomes a PVC print, how it differs from the e-EPIC, and what the print is and is not.

EPIC and e-EPIC

The voter ID is the Elector’s Photo Identity Card, or EPIC, issued through the Election Commission of India (ECI). The e-EPIC is a digital, PDF version of that card. The ECI voter portal and the Voter Helpline app are the official places to look for either. Their steps change, so follow their current instructions.

Check the file before you print

Zoom in until each side fills your screen. The photograph, name, EPIC number and QR code should stay sharp. Use the original e-EPIC download or a clear photo, not a compressed screenshot.

What a PVC print is and is not

A PVC print is a durable copy of your file. It is not a card issued by the electoral authority and it does not change your electoral record. Whether a printed copy is accepted at a polling station or office is decided by the authority, so carry your official document as well.

Common questions

Can I print my e-EPIC on a card? Yes, a PVC print is made from the e-EPIC file you hold. It is a private copy.

Will it replace my EPIC? No. It does not change your electoral record or replace a card issued by the electoral authority.
