Use your own QR code

PhonePe provides QR codes to merchants through its business services. You can start at PhonePe for Business and download your QR from your account. Download it at full size and upload that file. A small screenshot or a picture forwarded on a chat app is usually too soft to print well. Use a PDF or a large image.

Getting a QR that scans every time

A QR code is a grid of small squares. For it to scan reliably, the squares must stay sharp and keep their shape.

• Use the largest QR file your PhonePe account gives you.
• Do not stretch it. Keep it square.
• Leave a clear white border around it.
• Avoid putting a logo or text over the squares.

Test it in two places

Before you order, scan the file on your screen with another phone and check that the name shown is the one you expect. We print what you send and cannot see where a QR pays. When the card arrives, scan it with more than one phone in normal light, in the place where it will sit.

Layout tips

Keep the QR large, with a clear border around it. Leave your shop name readable above or below it, so customers can check that they are paying the right place. Keep the background plain around the code so phones read it quickly. A small line such as "Scan to pay" above the QR helps. Staff can also say it when a customer asks how to pay.

Choosing where to put the card

A QR card works best where customers already look. Place it near the till, at the height of a phone held in one hand, and clear of anything that casts a shadow. A card on a small stand near the till is easier to scan than one flat on the counter. If your shop has two counters or a stall and a shop, order a card for each.

Keeping the card clean

Counters get sticky. Wipe the card with a dry or slightly damp cloth, and replace it if the QR gets scratched. A scratched QR may stop scanning without warning. Order a spare, so you can swap a worn card at once. Once a month, scan your card with a phone and check that the name shown is the right one.

Keep your details safe

Never share a UPI PIN, an OTP or a password with anyone, including us. A customer paying you never needs yours, and we never need them. We need only the QR image. PhonePe and your bank manage the account. We print the card. Remind staff to look at the payment confirmation on the phone before they hand over goods.
