An ID card has to survive being clipped, pocketed and dropped every day. PVC does that better than paper. What goes on an ID card

A clear photo, the person's name, a role or class, an ID number and your organisation's name or logo. Add a barcode or QR code if you scan cards at entry. Keep everything a few millimetres away from the edge.

A simple layout

Most ID cards share a layout that people read in a second. Put the organisation's name and logo at the top. Put the photo on the left or in the centre. Put the name in large letters beside it, with the role or class and the number below. Use the back for an address, a phone number or a barcode.

Photos that print well

Use a front-facing photo with a plain background and even light. Take every photo against the same wall so the cards look consistent, and use the original file from the camera, not a copy sent through a chat app. Name each file with the person's name.

Card size

Cards are 85.6 mm by 54 mm with rounded corners, the same size as a debit card. This is the standard ID-1 card size. If you are building the design yourself, the PVC card size and design guide gives the pixel size and the safe margins.

Printing a batch

For a class or a team, make one design, change the photo and the details for each person, and save each card as its own file. Upload all the files in one order and set the quantity to match. • Place your order. Cards are made in a day and delivered in 5 to 8 days.

Price and delivery

Each card is ₹50. The delivery charge depends on your location, and delivery is free on orders above ₹999. If you are printing for an event, allow at least ten days from order to delivery.

Replacing a lost card

Keep the design file for every card. When someone loses theirs, order a single replacement from the same file. There is no minimum order.

After the cards arrive

Check each card against your list before you hand it out. Keep a note of who received which card, and keep the design file for every card. If a name or a number is wrong in the file, correct it and order that single card again.

Privacy

An ID card carries a name, a photo and sometimes a phone number. Store the files on a safe device, share them only with people who need them, and delete extra copies when the work is done. For students, use only what the card needs and get permission from the school or the parents.

Colours and lettering

Dark text on a light background is the easiest to read on a small card. Use a strong colour band to show a department, a plan or a type of visitor, and keep the lettering large enough to read from an arm's length. Avoid thin light lines on a white background, which can disappear when printed.

Ordering extras

Keep a few spare cards from your first batch. New joiners, late admissions and lost cards come up all the time, and a spare saves a wait. If you need a different design for guests, upload that file in the same order and set the quantity for each design.
