Common Reasons Uploaded Files Print Blurry
Why uploaded photos and documents print blurry: chat compression, screenshots, stretching a small file and poor focus, and how to check a file first.
Most blurry prints begin with a low-resolution or compressed source file.
Screenshots and chat compression
Screenshots may capture a scaled preview, while messaging apps often reduce image quality. Upload the original PDF or original camera export whenever possible.
Incorrect resizing
Stretching a small image creates larger pixels, not new detail. Prepare artwork at final dimensions and 300 DPI instead.
Poor focus and contrast
Photograph documents square-on in bright, even light. Check small text, faces, QR codes and barcodes at 100 percent before ordering.
How to check a photo before you upload it
Open the photo on a computer or phone and zoom in to 100 percent. If faces, text or edges look soft or blocky at that size, they will look the same, or worse, once printed. A photo that looks sharp only when it is small on a phone screen will not hold up in a large frame.
What file size and format to send
A larger file usually holds more detail. A phone photo of a few megabytes is normally fine; a file of a few hundred kilobytes has usually been compressed. JPG and PNG files straight from the camera or phone gallery are the best choice. Avoid sending the same picture through a chat app first, and avoid taking a screenshot of a photo that is already on your phone.
Frame size and photo quality
The bigger the print, the more detail the photo needs. The size guide explains how the 8 × 12 and 12 × 18 inch frames differ. In a collage, each photo is printed smaller, so a photo that is a little soft can still look good in a multi-photo collage frame when it would struggle as a single large print.
Ready to print?

Printing photos or frames?
The same rules apply to photos and frames: use the original file at full size. See photo printing online, photo prints by size, or put your best shots in a personalised photo frame or a collage frame.
