Photograph a Voter Card Without Losing Small Details

Use a flat, complete front and back photograph when you do not have an e-EPIC PDF.
Set up the card, not a photograph of your screen
Place the actual card on a plain surface in indirect daylight. Keep the camera parallel to it and move close enough for the card to fill most of the picture without cutting an edge. Tap to focus on the lettering. Take the reverse separately. A photograph of a phone displaying a card adds glare and screen pixels; use the original file instead when it is available.
Inspect the result before sending it
Open each photograph and zoom in. Read the EPIC identifier, name and address without guessing; check that the photo and any code are complete. Retake an image with reflections, motion blur or a finger over the edge. Do not use beauty filters, artificial sharpening or automatic background removal that changes document details. A high-resolution image of a blurred source remains blurred.
Pair the files for one person
Use names such as voter-front and voter-back in a private folder. Keep different people’s files separate. The two images make one printed card, so select one card for one set of sides. If neither side can be photographed clearly, obtain a current e-EPIC through the official ECI service before ordering.
