Glossy photo prints and lamination: what changes?
Separate the paper surface, protective layer and product dimensions.
A glossy photo print and a laminated print are related products, but their finish is not the same. Choose according to how the photograph will be handled and the exact listing you are ordering.
Paper surface versus added protection
A glossy photo-paper surface is the finish of the photographic print. Lamination adds a protective layer to the printed item. Do not assume every glossy print includes lamination or that every laminated item has the same stiffness, thickness or edge treatment.
GiftKida has separate laminated photo-print listings and standard print sizes. Compare the dimensions and quantity shown on the product page. An 8 × 12 inch print and a 12 × 8 inch listing describe different orientations of the same proportion, so also check your image direction.
Specifications that need confirmation
Paper weight, lamination thickness, archival life and water resistance are separate claims. A phrase such as “premium paper” does not specify a particular GSM. If a form, display or project requires an exact material specification, ask support before ordering; do not infer it from a sample photograph.
For official photographs, follow the receiving authority's finish and editing rules. A protective surface that is useful for a personal display may be unsuitable for a document workflow. The passport acceptance guide explains the distinction.
Caring for the delivered print
Handle prints by the edges, keep them flat and avoid prolonged moisture or direct sunlight. Keep packaging until you have checked the order. If an item arrives damaged or defective, contact GiftKida within the period stated in the returns policy. A laminated finish does not remove the need for careful handling.
